The LEF Prize in Literature is an impact idea aimed at inviting powerful, young voices in India to create moving literature on issues of inequity in the lives of children and women in India.
Conceptualised as an annual literary event, the LEF Prize in Literature will invite individuals in age group of 18-25 years to create and submit short stories on pre-identified themes. The entries will be screened and subsequently judged by a diverse and accomplished jury comprising well-known writers, artists, journalists and academicians.
By bringing fresh voices to the forefront, it aims to create greater awareness and empathy around the developmental challenges faced by millions of women and children in India.
Key Milestones:
Stage 1:
Identification of key developmental themes
Finalisation of eligibility criteria for participants
Creation of screening committee for shortlisting entries
Creation of jury comprising accomplished writers, artists, journalists and academicians.
Identification of publishing partner
Stage 2:
Creation of website for entry submission and management
Call for entries campaign across social media platforms
Stage 3:
Initial screening of entries by screening committee
Final shortlisting of entries by jury
Stage 4:
Announcement of winners in online event
Stage 5:
Compilation of shortlisted entries for publishing
Estimated Project timeline:
Call for Entries announcement: 2nd January 2022.
Acceptance of entries: 20th January 2022 – 20th February 2022.
Screening of entries – 1st March 2022 till 21 March 2022.
Final selection of entries by jury – 1st April 2022 till 31st April 2022.
Announcement of winners – Early May 2022.
