I didn’t realise it till just now, but Live Equal Foundation completed a year yesterday.

It has been a year where we could help 5 little girls from financially disadvantaged backgrounds navigate a year of top quality learning under the Akshara Foundation of Arts and Learning.

We continue to support these little ones this year as well.

It has been a year where we successfully awarded scholarships to 53 little girls in classes VIII and IX in states that saw the highest drop out rates post Covid.

We did this with through the LEF Scholarship for Girls with the help of Vidyasaarathi – in collaboration with Protean eGov Technologies Ltd. (Formerly NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Ltd.) We are in the process of reaching more children under this program.

2 months back, a little girl studying in class VIII, a recipient of the LEF Scholarship for Girls, wrote to me saying her dream was to study engineering in IIT. When she lost her father to Covid, she had very little hope of studying further due to financial constraints. The scholarship gave her both courage and the means to continue in her quest.

We still haven’t achieved the numbers that we had set out to, in year one, but this one mail tells me we are not giving up anytime soon.
